Thank you for visiting Arjuna Collections, an import company specializing in stone works from Indonesia. An odd specialty perhaps, but please allow me to share it's humble beginnings.
After 8 years in sales and management, I was beginning to feel numb. In June of 2003, I took a trip to Bali, despite several warnings about Indonesian travel. With only 14 days of vacation from work, I had no time to waste. I knew I was looking for something and I was hoping I'd find it immersed in the Indonesian culture. Walking through the villages of Bali, I think I came to understand what that was. I saw a culture I could have never imagined. A people appreciating life to the smallest detail. The art, the relics, the history... All secondary to a tradition of pride taken in working with hands deeply entrenched in the earth; magnificent treasures created as part of an average day. When I left I knew I knew this trip had changed me. I wanted to implement these new outlooks, but how?
Once I returned to the States, I immediately jumped back in to the grind of the corporate game. I had accumulated everything I wanted, I made over a hundred thousand dollars a year, I owned a beautiful house, I drove a beautiful car and yet it just wasn't adding up. I felt empty inside. I needed something to feel passionate about. While discussing this with friends, I was encouraged to go back and seek my dreams. Arjuna Collections was born that day.
Like that, my adventure began. With my home on the line, I purchased a round trip ticket for two months. Two months turned to six months. I found so many treasures, I needed more time. Not just to find items to sell, but to gain further understanding of my own life, broaden my horizons, increase my awareness of faith and religion, learn new languages and make lasting friendships.
With Arjuna Collections I hope find and bring back treasures that enrich others lives they way this entire journey has enriched mine.
